  14. I "upgraded" my USR Sportster (internal) 28.8K data/fax modem to 33.6K 
  15. capability. Apparantly the new chip prevents sending faxes with ProComm+. 
  16. It works fine, however, for receiving faxes and send/receive data. On the 
  17. other hand, it will send fax with the fax software supplied with the 
  18. modem.

  20. A call to USR revealed no known problem sending fax. Many, I repeat MANY, 
  21. hours with three levels of support techs at Datastorm (ProComm) did not 
  22. yield a "fix." Reinstalling the old chip fixed the problem.

  24. So, think twice before going to the Sportster with the new V.34 
  25. extentions (to 33.6K). It may be deleterious to your send fax health!
